Sonnet Sundays: How I Love Thee

In the tranquil night, I rest upon the bed
With tender thoughts of you running through my head
Cherishing the very seconds of our time
Bidding farewell should be considered a crime
Dread overcomes when I have to leave your side
There’s no one else with whom I can confide
When I gaze into your sweet, angelic face
The temptation of a kiss makes my heart race
Beyond any doubt, I know our love is true
Our dreams of heaven will be given to you
Thinking of you, you’ll look at our special day
Proclaiming our love with the vows that we say
My promises will be kept as long as I live
There’s nothing for you that I wouldn’t give
We’ll show everyone that we were meant to be
Together, we can overcome the dark sea
The lengthy journey was worth undertaking
Because your love didn’t merit forsaking
You’ll reside in my arms till the day I die
Even the reaper’s scythe can’t break our tie
